we walked down the side walk
stepping over the cracks
trying to avoid any more pain
never wanting to turn back
the words we quietly spoke
hid the solitude that remained
holding hands squeezing tight
to a life that has not been claimed
we looked deep into our souls
finding them filled with light
knowing we have to see the darkness
to properly see a new day take flight
