i remember when driving hgihway 10
Nov. 20th, 2008 01:33 amso far this month i have broken or other wise ruined
2 hammers (fixable and fuckitable)
2 screw driver (fuckitable and not mine(!))
a hole saw (fixable)
plus my jigsaw is getting all screwy and needs to be pulled apart and serviced. a stuck on switch is never a good thing. one of the hammers was a day old dollar tree hammer. yes they are cheaply made but this has to be a record for me. one of the screwdiver did not break at the point it should have. i got all pissed of and threw it down (nice anger management buddy) and pieces went everywhere. seems i had forgotten that this one held parts in the handle so when i threw it the cap flew off and metal bits flew about. but after picking up every thing it was all present and undamaged. then the next day (today) i stripped the thing put screws into a 1" hinge. never should have happened that way.
nothing like pushing weak tools to their breaking points. mabe if i push hard enough i will go past my breaking point.
next step it tag projectors for maintenance. it will be a nice winter project sice the projectors run hotter than an overclocked xt. so far two need belts and one of those may need a bulb. and "bob" knows they all need cleaned loved and lubed. then i have to go get the pair i saw last weekend. because they are just oh so pretty. maybe i will even do a head count make a nice little display rack for most of them. the newer 16mm can keep its fat ass on the ground. its a just because anyway. because it was cheap when i bought it. because i didnt have a 16mm at the time. because i couldnt think of enough reasons not to get it. but you give me a choice between that one and the 1930s kodak and i am so going with the kodak...after it gets a good belt.
those two pretty blue keystones actually got me in the mood to watch a couple of recent buys. one was 5 minutes of trees filmed from a boat or a river side drive. the other was a christmas 1952. and i proved how sad i was. the one kid opens a tinker toy set and i start going off about taking them away form him. do you know wha the value is of a mint 1952 tinker toy set?! then later in it the two boys open a lionel train set and i went through the whole bit again. but seriously the family had to have a little money to be able to afford the camera and film, editing services, and toys like that. not really cheap things at any time. the really funny part was the use of the tv (off station) to light up the woman playing piano. actually gave it a nice mood. it was such a happy nc17mas that it was almost sickening. and there was even snow on the ground.
this all relates because i learn to use the tools to maintain the toys. if i stay in practice its handy information when i need it. like wiring up that sloppy bitch that is my stereo. or being able to build those boxes that meet my needed specs for record storage. like learning to use a computer just so i can work on databasing my music but at this point i think i will take a couple of shortcuts.
