so a couple of weekends ago we were at an estate sale and i stepped to get out of someones way and almost stepped on an unframed printed kind of leaning against a table. so i picked it up and it was in ok condition and appeared to be signed. not the type of thing i would normally buy but i liked it enough to the asking price. george as a single. eh why not.

so i got it home and did some further research and i am still unsure of the signature but it appears to be pencil and that is consistant. under the matting (of sorts) there was text printed that told some of the more important facts. 1] Marino Marini 2] "horse and rider" 3] from the stern collection. in simple terms this is great. Marino Marini is a known artist so thats a nice start. we have a title but the problem is this is the at least the third instance that i can see of this title being used - one statue and the other a painting. as for the stern collection if my reasearch is correct he was a gallery owner in germany in the 30s lost everything per government ordered liquidation and eventually ended up in canada. there is a date on it as well c1965. i have since put it in a frame for safe keeping and would rather not take it out.

so what i am asking is any of you with access to catalogs (moma has information but not online) and such and can find a copy of this so i can check the signature if present and more importantly check to see if there is in fact surfaces damage as i suspect there is. rider holding horses ears/horses head points straight up/horses legs point straight down/brown and black with a red border. though a color picture would be nice to include my cameras are busted. and though a color picture would be great for comparison a b&w photocopy will hold all of the information i need.

thank you for your time.
