i started to put this together some time ago and it just kept growing. i thought about just putting up my noted for all of this but hey i've got things to say. it will be messy because i am damn tired and its late. and this is only part of the stuff i am needing to put up.

"now you know why i cant be the president of the united states 'cause i would snap like this 18 times a day." -- denis leary

the washington post ran the following bit in what basically amounts to their gossip column. i am sure it was not the airlines idea to turn a 45 minute flight into a three hour cruise. wait you read first then well talk...

now boarding: the bush twins [link no longer works]
amid the mess over the weekend for travelers flying from boston to washington (lost luggage, delayed flights, etc.), those aboard saturday's 7 p.m. us airways shuttle from logan international airport -- which had been held up for 20 minutes because of luggage problems -- were surprised when the pilot announced that the plane would make a quick hop to albany on its way to reagan national.

"we land in albany, and the doors open and in come jenna and barbara [ bush] and several secret service agents," our spy, who declined to be named "for fear of going to gitmo," told us. "i kept thinking, i haven't heard of anybody diverting planes for all these other people being inconvenienced. this doesn't fit in the norm of airline travel."

but before blame goes to the first daughters, it turns out that it's not unusual for us airways to make such diversions. "yes, there are times when we will divert an airplane to pick up passengers off of another canceled flight. we do that when we have no other way to accommodate those customers," said airline spokesman david castelveter. in addition to the bush twins, 22 other beleaguered passengers also boarded in albany.

the shuttle landed in washington around 10:30 p.m. -- two hours past its scheduled arrival but, as witnesses tell us, time enough for jenna to be spotted that night carousing at the georgetown prepster hangout smith point.

now where were we? oh yeah. i can understand the possible risks of having the presidents daughters hanging out in an airport with the hoi polloi. they might get caught drinking again or something. or some terrorist might kidnap them and blow them up. or what.ever.

yeah there are times when they divert planes. when it is someone with enough money or power. they were able to cover it up to some degree by picking up other passangers. that was the only reason they got on that plane.

they should have made them charter a plane. im sure there daddy has his own plane that could have picked them up. or maybe one belong to one of his corporate buddies. do they really think they are fooling anyone?

911sealto change topics oh about this much the "national commission on terrorist attacks upon the united states" website has the planes-go-boom reports available for download. problem was i had to get it from the government printing office site because the official one was running so slow. when it worked. i got it and it looks like it is going to be a real interesting reading. at 585 pages (plus supplements) it better be interesting. not to mention that i will be reading it on a monitor because i sure as hell am not going to print out something that big. sure i could just buy the book version but ill wait until i can pick it up in a thrift store.

i cant really express an opinion on it since i havent read it but apparently that doesnt stop some people. yes i know this is a report by a commission the president didnt want formed but it does seem it was put together by the same people who brought us the warren commission. because it was? bah.

but you know that does nothing but encourage more fud*. that is how they are able to get away with sparing no expense and taking no chances. i just hope they are paying for it out of their own pockets. the two quotes from the following article do nothing but try to scare people.

al qaeda plot targets us
"we do have new and unusually specific information about where al qaeda would like to attack," homeland security secretary tom ridge revealed.

even though new york has been on code orange since sept. 11, 2001, the new intelligence prompted mayor bloomberg and police commissioner raymond kelly to bolster the city's already heightened security. "we are deploying our full array of counterterrorism resources," bloomberg said. "we will spare no expense and we will take no chances."

what is the point of always being on code orange. guess what folks that is one of the risks of living in a free country (while it still is one. kinda.) that also happens to be a major world power. you have to take your chances. either we live free or we live safe. cant have both. anyway the really sad/funny part about this is the fact that they kinda forgot to mention the following in there big fancy press releases about that.

pre-9/11 acts led to alerts [this link will probably not work unless you pay]
more than half a dozen government officials interviewed yesterday, who declined to be identified because classified information is involved, said that most, if not all, of the information about the buildings seized by authorities in a raid in pakistan last week was about three years old, and possibly older.

"there is nothing right now that we're hearing that is new," said one senior law enforcement official who was briefed on the alert. "why did we go to this level? . . . i still don't know that."

wait i know the answer to this. we went to that level to scare people so it would take their minds off of domestic issues. but tell me this...why exactly is that classified information. i mean i could take a guess but i curious.

in the post i made about the fundrasing concert my friend robert was putting on i mentioned that it was nice to see that the canidate it was for (brad carson) had the tech savvy to have a blog on his official site. well it then came up that there was going to be a group of people blogging the democratic national convetion and it really does give me hope. a false hope maybe but still hope. maybe we will eventually have a government that doesnt fear the internet.

zinester extrodinaire richmackinrichmackin posted a really interesting link about a protester in boston that felt the need to rock the boat. it is one of those situations where it seems neither side is either right or wrong. i hope the link still actually works since i dont feel like checking it right now.

one more thing - classified annexes to the taguba report on abu ghraib. why am i not surprised that i am not seeing this in a us paper?

did i piss anyone off yet? aside from myself.

*fud-fear uncertenty and doubt
