This portion is going to include even less about driving. How much of a road trip is ever about driving anyway. That's what this was too, a road trip. Just with no going back.

After I settle down a little I started thinking about things. Was I really going to make? I was in a shitty car. Was I really going to make it? Even if I had to sleep in a cardboard box, I was not going back there? What if the car broke down? Live where it died and let fate take over...hope it was not too much to get it fixed and go on with the drive...grab what I absolutely needed, load up a storage space, and hope the nearest bus. That was "the plan." Thinking about friends. Thinking about family. About the past. About the future.

"Can't even see ahead of my nose But I know the road A little scared, but I know where to go" - Descendents. The first stop was, and alnost has always been, a Texaco In Blackwell. Now it may seem weird to go up to get to Boston, but I had one more goodbye to say. This has always been the first stop in and the last stop out beacause almost as soon as you hit Kansas you are stuck on a turnpike. It's a clean station that does not have the inflated prices that the turnpike stations have. There is also a Diary Queen and video games. On a drive years before this AEPB and I stood there in full blown beavis because they had an adult oriented game. So it was only chicks in swimsuits but that was many game generations ago. So that just kind of reinforced that sinky town as a regular stop. Mostly the cheap gas and it beeing clean and all. So I am sitting there pumping my gas and this guy from the other side starts talking. To. Me. "Where you headed?" Boston." Well you might want to water proff that stuff on top because it's raining up ahead." Oh, great. Just fucking great. Thanks. This was the first run in with the 'movers mood.' See I have found that a certian group of people when they see someone alone in unfimilar territory with all of there posessions will be very helpful. Mostly it's people that want to get out, but can't. A lot of people just ask stupid questions. Others, like me, just smirk. And this guy, with his wife and two kids, would have done the same if he had not thought I might need the information. And I did, but there wasn't a damn thing I could about at this point. Still have the drum machine that was tweeked by that rain. Next time, I will water proof anything attached to the outside of the car. But I doubt there will be a next time. Back to the black top.

I can tell you nothing about the drive through Kansas. Made the drive several times and it all blends together. I can tell you I stopped in Emporia. That is where you get off the turn pike. If you are ever there and they are still in business, I suggest you stop by Wizard records. Just for a laugh. The one time I was in there, AEPB and I were laughing because either of our collections was more than they had for sell. Kind of sad. From here to Columbia is all blank. Nothing special on the trip. All blends together.
