remember in school when they told you
worry more about who you are
than what you look like
than what other people thought of you
you rolled your eyes at them
thinking your looks were what made you you
looks were the only thing that mattered
the only thing the boys looked at
then time caught up with you
you had the multi-car pile up
you had the family of three
you had the family of four
you had the emergency surgery
you had a hundred different pills
and another hundred things
that all changed the way you look
yet you still dont want to listen
you still dont accept your body
you still dont see the whole package
those few extra pounds
the stretch marks
the multitude of scars
the extra or missing skin
those just add character
to an already beautiful body
those just add wisdom
to an already beautiful mind
thats what keeps the good ones around
so as soon as you accept these things
these things you see as flaws
you will find that love will notice either
there is someone perfect for you
wanting to run his hands over you
tracing ever soft and rough part
mesmerized by each little detail
wanting to each story
of how it hurt
of what you learned
of the joys that came with it
