01] what was the band the cure called prior to being called the cure?
easy cure was the correct answer. we are not even going to speak of the name prior to that.
02] what does the band name black flag refer to?
yeah yeah yeah ok trick question. band memeber have said that it came from the bug killer and the black flag of anarchy.
03] where did the band the band death cab for cutie take their name from?
from a song by the bonzo dog doo dah band
04] where did the band toad the wet sprocket take there name from?
this would be from a very funny monthy python sketch,
05] who originally performed the song tainted love?

they are in fact brothers. as well as spocket. but as
ian_scuffling pointed out in his answer it is also true that one is an amusing ep of remixes by alpha team and the other is a a very rocking ep by big black. both of which i own.
