so i was looking for a spoiler for the village and came across something that kind of sparked my interest. i had watched a few minutes of the buried secret of m night shyamalan when the sci-fi channel aired it a few weeks ago. in the discussion that followed all i had to say was that this was coming from the same channel that gave us the curse of the blair witch mocumentary to push the blair witch project. needless to say i didnt believe it.

well as it so happens in the imdb trivia section for the buried secret of m night shyamalan there is only one comment that states...

this entire film was a mocumentary that was advertised as an unauthorized bio of reclusive director m. night shyamalan. after going so far as shyamalan reporting to the press that he was upset about the release of this film, many fans and journalists became upset when they later learned it was all a hoax. the sci-fi channel released an apology a few days before release for their campaign strategies.

i went hunting through the sci-fi channel site trying to find that apology but had no luck. i did find a page that referred to it but that was the best i could find. the paragraph that spells it out for you says...

sci fi admitted on july 16 that it created a story that was part fact and part fiction as a way to publicize the documentary, which premiered july 18, and that it did not have a falling out with the director, as previously reported in the media and on sci fi wire (june 16, july 7 and july 8).

funny thing is that i dont remember them releasing an apology for curse of the blair witch. of for that matter for even running commercials for that piece of crap called blair witch 2. the thing that really gets me laughing is that even with all this information out there people are still arguing over it being real or not.

before you start tearing into me for spoiling it go scratch. the information is already out there from the official sources and i didnt actually say anything about any of the content of any of the films mentioned. and i still never found that spoiler for the village.
