ok a couple of people have been wondering where i have been for the past month or so. i wish i had a good explanation. the truth of the matter is that a) i have not been doing so well mentally and though i have had things to write i have not felt like writing. this even goes for email. i am working on getting caught up but right now for me it is work. b) i got a ps2 for my birthday and have been playing the hell out simpsons: hit and run and simpsons: road rage. keep s me from having to think too much. see? nothing good.
on those games as fun as they are to play they are full of glitches. some so bad that you have no choice but to reboot the machice. i am sorry but there is no way they should have hit the shelves with problems like that. cheap and shoddy. too bad they are not so cheap. if i had actually bought them instead of rented them i would be pissed. you would think microsoft designed and coded them. and dont even get me started on the fact that they are both based on other well known games. specifically gta and crazy taxi.
one of the games that i actually own is driver 2 for the psone. (for those who dont know psone games play on the ps2 so get them on the cheap) it is an ok game at best but it has a funny quirk. one of the courses/levels is set in chicago. as i was driving around i hit two different areas that made me go 'shit ive been there'. it was kind of nice to see that someone actually did the research well enough that things could be recognized. it is not like it was major things either.
another one of the games that got handed to me was gta london also for the psone. that is all nice and everything except that when you put it in it says 'please insert gta disc'. dammit. its an expansion pack. now i have to find out if it actually needs the gta disc or is actually looking for the gta 2 disc of if either will work. then i have to hunt down which ever it actually needs. again dammit.
while playing i was thinking about the memory cards. there are all kinds of sites where you can illeagaly download game roms. well why shouldnt there be sites where you can download game saves. that way you could have everything unlocked but wouldnt have to do all the work. i know that is not the point of the game. but isnt that basically what a lot of the cheat codes do anyway? the only problem is that unless there is a way to transfer to a memory card over a network you would need special equiptment to transfer from a computer to the memory card. and i really dont see why this would be illegal.
i would like to say that my mother kicks ass. she found a copy of adobe pagemaker 6 at a yard sale for $5. it even has a reg code with it. now that is a score. now i suppose i should find a reason to actually use it. and before you ask yes it actually the real thing and not a burned copy or anything. and its only one full version behind.
thanks to mouser i now have a gmail account. had to dig through my yahoo bulk folder to find the damn invite. and considering that in the matter of a weekend i can end up with 400+ things in there it was some real hunting. yahoo is pissing me off with the bulk folder. i have to use it but it still sucks balls. first they send every other tmbg mail to it. dfammit be consistant. second everytime certain people send me email it winds up going in there (alex, rob, and a couple of others) so i end up having to go through all of it anyway. thats what i get for having an address that is known publicly. so the gmail address is not going to made public but it is the usual userid at gmail.com.
i also got around to installing firefox. i havent installed any of the plugins yet but ill get there eventually. i know its still in beta so i am suprised i have not found more promlems that i have. as a matter of fact the only one i have found is that it doesnt show up in the programs list via xps 'open with...'. so now i have all kinds of fun. i am primarily using firefox but certain things open locally with ie while others open with opera. yeah i know you just wish you were me.
i recently aquired a handful of cds and thought i would share the list just because i am all excited anytime i aquire new music. although for some reason i am expecting a certain some one to completely rip this list apart. he is good for it. i respect his opinion even if it is always wrong :-P ok so what i got is...

*i could have gotten it in 95 when i decided i wanted it but i quit special ordering music a long time ago. i can always wait or find something else to buy. trust me on this.

another thing i got was a a+ study guide. i havent done anything with it since i have it but i do have. yes it is for the old test but not that much is different and it only cost $3. i took one of those free online practice tests and scored a 65. no that is not passing. it is however without studying or having ever taken any tech classes. not to mention i am all sorts of out of practice. most of the stuff i missed was old stuff that didnt get changed when they test did. things like irq settings and port pin counts. i can tell you what a cable is by looking at it but i have never felt the need to know how many pins an xt moust plug has. gues i have to learn it if i am going to pass the test when i finally take it. no i am not going to pass it i am going to ace it. then i can move on to the msce battery of tests.
i am patiently looking forward to a couple of lunch pails and some books. on this i really know you are jealous. i cant wait for them to get here.
if some one has a broadband connection and a burner i could use a copy of open office. i tried on my shitty dialup and it came out corrupted. a cd copy was ordered for me and it never arrived and probably never will. that is only the second time i have ever experienced a order not recieved from all the online orders i have seen come trough over the years. guess it had to happen at some point. so if you can help i am begging you.
replies to comments on the previous post will arrive soonish. i want to think about the comments left and my responses so that i keep it rational and somewhat coherent. a couple of points in particular gave me something to think about.
in case you care a few things you can expect to see me rambling on about in the near future...trek expo 2004, cheap digital camers, paseo arts festival, red rock canyon, my prom date. this is mostly put here as a reminder to myself. also i want to add that i have always written because i felt the need to. not because i think my life is all that interesting. as a matter of fact i have never really done anything all that interesting or impressive. so you get what you pay for.
