she always had this twisted side to her but she'd never drag my name around town

these are my xmess* memories from over the years. i am trying to keep them in chronological order but the mind does funny trick with time and memories. so merry fuckking whatever...

i cannot count the number of times sleeping on the floor of some relatives house on xmess morning. one year in particular i remember waking up on the floor under the hide-a-bed at my grandparents house. there was a lack of floor space so i opted for the most spacious spot i could find.

it is hard to remember what gifts i got for xmess or birthday or what from year to year but one year stands out pretty clearly. that year i got a cool tool bench of my own. tools and everything. no they were not great tools but they were not of the plastic made for kids type either. it was like a hundred gifts in one. from what i remember i could have disassembled it the very next day. i don't recall having it much longer after i got it but that could be because it got moved to some place in the garage where i never saw it.

we were not a wealthy family by any means and it became very apparent one year. we were designated as the poor family of our church and for that several members brought some bags of groceries over. i think they also brought some toys but would not be surprised if that was not in the package.

either my cousin or i were given a stretch armstong. it was a very unseasonable warm year. so we were out side withour coats or jackets without risk of an ass chewwing thowing this ugly thing up in the air trying to bust it open on the cement. i don't think we ever succeeded but we did give it a hell of a shot.

after my parents checked into splitsville we were living out in the middle of nowhere with our dad. we somehow managed to talk him into taking us to this small town xmess parade. the floats and such were just as bad and cheap and sparse as you would expect. i was in jr high by this point but it is the first parade i remember. for that is was kinda nice.

one of the gifts i got from my father while in high school was a camera. i had camera before but this was a 35mm with a zoom lens. exactly what i would need for taking better pictures at shows. too bad it was a nightmare. i had all kinds of trouble with it but i always thought it was me. still i held onto the thing. i tried it a new several times over the years but never seemed to be able to get it to work. if i find it again it is going out the window for good.

the weirdest xmess experience i ever had would have to be the years i celebrated it with my girlfriend at the time who happened to be a jahovah's witness. we were together for three years and each year it was always a weird thing for me. the whole relationship was weird for so many reasons but those are stories for another day.

someone told me about this huge light display in chickasha, oklahoma. so after hearing so much about it we made the drive with video camera in hand. we got down there and saw the line and figured we would get the best shots and kill less time by walking through it. and freezing our asses off. it was pretty and nice and all of that. i have actually driven down there twice this year to enjoy the festival of light.

my most recent memory is making a lj post about my assorted emess memories
